The local flora plants use for the type 2 diabetes treatment in the Chernihiv Polesie (Ukraine) rural localities
Abstract
In the rural localities of the region of Chernihiv Polesie (Ukraine) there are 86 respondents from 500 interviewed in 2019-2021 residents (including 129 patients with type 2 diabetes) only medicinal plants of the local flora for the diabetes treatment. According to the results of the survey, it was established that in these 86 respondents, the glycated hemoglobin index decreased by 10.8– 26.4% within 1.5–4 years after the initial detection of type 2 diabetes. The plants of local and introduced flora used by respondents for the treatment of diabetes are: Vaccinium myrtillus (92% of respondents), Phaseolus vulgaris (72%), Fragaria vesca (63%), Morus alba (46.5%), Juglans regia (44%), Malus sylvestris (37%), Sambucus nigra (30%), Urtica dioica (27%), Cichorium intybus (24%), Arctium lappa (21%), Robinia pseudoacacia (10.5%).
Biography
Oleksandr Lukash has completed his PHD at the age of 27 years from and Doctor’s degree at the age of 37 years from Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, Ukraine. He is the professor of the Department of Ecology and Geography and Nature Management (T.H. Shevchenko National University “Chernihiv Colehium”, Chernihiv, Ukraine). He has over 300 publications more than 300 scientific publications (including 10 monographs) in the field of botany (including pharmaceutical botany), ecology, plant protection, biochemistry and physiology.
